Blog 23: Senior Project Reflection

(1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your block presentation and/or your senior project? Why?

I am most proud of being able to explain each of my answers to fullest capability and being able to relate personal mentorship experience to all of them. When I was practicing at home for my presentation I was hitting about 7 minutes on my answer one and another 7 minutes on my answer two. During my lesson though all of the information that I gathered up over the year seemed to flow out of me at all the right times and I started hitting over 10 minutes per answer. I felt like that was a great accomplishment.

a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your block presentation (self-assessment)?

I would give my myself a P or P+ because I met all of the requirements stated on the contract as well as went a bit beyond into accommodating my room in order to transform it into something that would look more like my mentorship. I feel like I presented myself well and get through my presentation pretty smoothly.

(3) What worked for you in your senior project?

What worked for me in my senior project way was that I had a solid idea of what I wanted to focus on and I had two mentored that were able to answer any questions I had. I feel like I had an advantage to others with their project just because of that fact. I also knew that these teachers were experts in their field because I remember them since I was in diet grade. They have a lot of experience and it made my senior project flow smoothly. 

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?

If I could go back the only think I would change would be the amount of days I spent at mentorship. I wish I could've gone more often because I would learn so much on the days that I did go and I regret not finding out what I could've learned from those kids. 

(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.

My senior project was helpful because it helped me see that I would not be able to follow my career path of being a teacher because I have little patience when left alone with a class of 35 kids. I learned that although you can make great bonds with students you take a lot of their stories home and I felt like the responsibility to help them learn was entirely on me. It really was an eye opener to what could happen and what would happen if I chose this as a career, so I am now focusing on becoming a nurse.

One effective teaching method to raise standardized test scores is to not teach to the test.

Another teaching method to raise standardized test scores is to teach with alignment.

I feel like my second answer won't be my best answer but I know it'll move me along in the process of finding more examples and activities to go song with my presentation. 

Blog 13: Lesson 2 Reflection

1.What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?

What I am most proud of is how well the activity went. I honestly thought that people wouldn't be engaged but I guess the concept captivated them and that surprised me.

2. a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation (self-assessment)?

     b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2 component contract.

I feel that I deserve a P because once you look down the contract, I met the specific requirements of time, intro and conclusion, volume, eye contact and professionalism. I kept my presentation clean and to the point in order for everyone to understand with multiple examples. 

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 2?

I think what worked for me was the fact  that I recited what I wanted to say at least 10 times before actually performing it. 

4. What didn't work? If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2?

I would definitely try to improve my time, I was very close to be short on time by about 15 seconds. I need to learn how to pace and how to add for informative content. 

5. What do you think your answer #2 is going to be?

I feel like my answer two will be alignment in the classroom with activities, work and tests. I would have to find more evidence to prove it right. 

Blog 9: Lesson 1 Reflection

What are you most proud of in your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?
I was proud of how I was able to show everyone what's it's like to be learning something new that was never introduced before, and how complicated it is to teach as well as learn something that you don't even have the funding for.

       a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 Presentation (self-assessment)?

       b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 1 component contract.
I think I deserve the P because I met all the basic requirements on time and I also hit all the points I had to during my presentation. Nothing was left out and I met time. 

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?
I think I had an advantage because I was able to use electronics which made it flow and I had a sense of how my final presentation would look. 

4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
I would've had more than one working answer and I would've taken more time on thinking of a better hook.
